Jesuit Dallas Assistant Robotics Coach

Jesuit Dallas is seeking a highly skilled professional in programming and automation to assist with the instruction and coaching of our competitive robotics team.  Successful candidate must be eager to work in an after-school collaborative environment with high school students, teachers, and community volunteers.   

Responsibilities
  • Oversee lab safety and volunteers.
  • Assist in all facets of the design process as it pertains to competitive high school robotics, including leading students through:
    • Strategy-based design practices that focus on student and team development
    • Computer Aided Design with a strong understanding of mechanical design
    • Prototyping and light manufacturing
    • Programming the robot control system in Java or other relevant language
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Expertise in incorporating artificial intelligence into vision systems for object detection and field localization is preferred.
  • Prior experience in FIRST Robotics Competition, FIRST Tech Challenge, or another similar competitive platform is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to instruct and coach high school students in high pressure situations is required.
  • Experience with OnShape or SolidWorks preferred.
  • Experience with CNC routers, CNC laser cutters, and 3D printing preferred.
  • A willingness to contribute and collaborate on curriculum creation is preferred.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Works in fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a diverse array of contacts.
  • Instructs and coaches students outside the traditional work day including afternoon, evening, and weekend hours.
  • Assisting at tournaments with may include travel.
  • May work at a desk and computer for an extended period of time.
  • Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
