Objective:

 

The Jesuit College Prep of Dallas Department of Athletic Performance currently provides a multifaceted program that meets the needs of more than 750 student athletes. The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) recommends that performance training be instructed by a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). A full-time position dedicated to the proper physical preparation of the student-athletes will ensure effective and scientifically based training will occur in an environment that promotes safety and organization.

 

Job Description:

 

The candidate will organize all facets of athletic performance ranging from strength, conditioning, and flexibility to sports nutrition and basic sport psychology.  The Director will also oversee the Performance Education program designed to educate the student athletes on the lifestyle and demands placed on them during their athletic career. Extensive knowledge in these key areas is paramount. Professionalism in dealing with coaches and student athletes while being proficient with common computer software, and performance testing protocol is required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or an equivalent certification is required. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree, Master’s is preferred. Candidate must possess a minimum of five (5) years of experience in training large teams or athletic organizations. The candidate must be able to motivate and cultivate our student athletes while supporting the Jesuit Mission Statement. Additionally, candidates must be able to demonstrate effective organization skills.

 

Assigned Duties:

 

Duties include, but are not limited to assisting in all aspects of training for all sports; writing programs, testing, and consistent record keeping for all sports; maintain an open line of communication with the other members of the athletic performance staff, sport coaches, and students; and direct the upkeep and maintenance of a safe performance facility. The qualified individual will head up the Performance Education curriculum. In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities in the athletic department, the Director will be available for consultation during non-training hours for students, faculty, and staff. The Director will be held accountable for assisting with Jesuit functions as needed and attend all required faculty and staff development responsibilities as assigned.

 

Non-Athletic Performance Related Responsibilities:

 

Administrative duties outside of the Department of Athletic Performance include: Organize, operate, and coach (or assist the Head Coach with) the Jesuit Powerlifting team, plan and organize athletic staff Ignatian Identity Day professional development discussions/presentations, faculty and staff wellness consultations, oversee the operations of Jesuit home athletic events as assigned, and athletic administrative duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
