Description
Jesuit Dallas is in search of a qualified and passionate educator to train students in a Catholic all-male setting. The Assistant Director of Athletic Performance will play a key role in various aspects of athletic performance including strength, energy system development, flexibility, sport nutrition, data collection, analytics, and implementation of performance technology. This position will also oversee the Performance Education program aimed at promoting proper lifestyle habits and managing the demands placed on student athletes.
The Assistant Director of Athletic Performance is expected to display professionalism and effective communication when interacting with coaches, high school athletes, and parents. Proficiency with common computer software and performance testing protocol. Assigned duties include, but are not limited to:
- Form and educate young men to be open to growth, intellectually competent, loving, religious, committed to working for justice, and physically fit.
- Motivate and cultivate student athletes while supporting the Jesuit Mission.
- Support all facets of the Department of Athletic Performance.
- Facilitate year-round training for assigned sports.
- Design programs and testing protocols for assigned sports.
- Develop physical fitness programs for non-athlete students.
- Assist with Physical Education for the freshman class.
- Collaborate on the program design and implementation of the Summer Athletic Performance Camp.
- Provide support for school functions such as school tours, Open House, and retreats.
- Engage in regular professional development.
- Participate in all departmental and school-wide faculty formation.
- Ensure the upkeep and maintenance of a safe and healthy performance facility.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in kinesiology, sports science, or related field.
- Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or the equivalent certification.
- Two or more years experience in training large teams or athletic organizations.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience coaching a high school sport preferred.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Works in a face-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a diverse array of contacts.
- Often required to lift more than 45 pounds while performing normal duties.
- May work at a desk or computer for extended periods of time.
