Jesuit Dallas Grade Level Counselor
Jesuit Dallas is seeking a supportive and professional guidance counselor to foster the academic, spiritual, social/emotional, and psychological formation of our students. Successful candidates will possess a passion for forming adolescents, engaging in life-long learning, and collaborating with peers in the pursuit of the School's mission. Candidates must enjoy working with adolescent males and their families.
Responsibilities
- Form and educate young men to be open to growth, intellectually competent, loving, religious, committed to working for justice, and physically fit.
- Develop, organize, and oversee the implementation of grade level advisories and guidance curriculum.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, coaches, and families in all areas of student formation, including academic progress.
- Work with college counselors to assist students in the college admissions process, including recommendation letter writing.
- Generate goal-setting, problem-solving, and time-management tools for students and their families.
- Support students who are experiencing mental health issues, behavioral problems, social challenges, or at-risk behaviors and make appropriate referrals.
- Participate in all departmental and school-wide faculty formation.
- Engage in on-going professional development.
- Participate in student-centered co-curricular, extra-curricular, service, and/or retreat opportunities.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in School Counseling or a related field required.
- Demonstration of a high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical decision making.
- Confidence in presenting to/facilitating large and small groups of adolescents and/or adults.
- Three or more years experience as a high school counselor preferred.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Works in a fast paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a diverse array of contacts.
- Full time position that requires occasional evening and weekend hours.
- Active position that requires regular movement around campus.
- May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
