Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas seeks a Mandarin instructor to lead and continue to grow a program currently in its fifth year. This instructor will teach levels 1-4 of the language and will continue to develop and refine the curriculum. The majority of our students choose to study simplified characters, but the ability to support heritage learners who wish to continue studying traditional characters is also preferable. The Language Department currently has 10 other full-time Spanish, French and Latin instructors, and it is known for its collegial environment and close collaboration to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment. The modern languages in the department emphasize communicative activities. Interest in chaperoning student language immersion trips during the school year and/or summer is a plus, as the Mandarin program has made trips abroad in recent years. A Master’s degree in language/linguistics or education, in addition to teaching experience at the high school or college level, is preferred.
