Description
The Major Gifts Officer at Jesuit Dallas is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of donors and prospective donors in support of Jesuit's fundraising goals and initiatives.  Reporting to the Director of Development, the ideal candidate is self-motivated with a proven track record of successful relationship building and securing of philanthropic gifts, or a successful sales record in the for-profit sector.  

Essential Functions
  • Cultivate, solicit, steward, and manage a portfolio of 150-200 major gift prospects including alumni, parents, parents of grads, and others in the Jesuit community
  • Directly solicit gifts, working with advancement staff, administration, faculty, and volunteers to implement successful solicitation strategies for major gifts, annual appeals, and event sponsorships
  • Conduct face-to-face and virtual donor visits; prepare solicitation materials and proposals
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in donor database
  • Collaborate with members of the advancement staff during fundraising/community events, gift recognition, reporting, etc., and all activities that support the operational needs of the Advancement Office
  • Serve on committees as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required with three or more years experience in a fundraising or sales environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven success building and maintaining trusted relationships with key stakeholders and the ability to interact with multiple constituencies
  • Ability to communicate the philosophy and mission of the School as part of the cultivation process; strong ties to the Jesuit community a plus
  • Demonstrated accomplishment in the acquisition of donor gifts and the ability to strategize, formulate, and close gifts
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in an exciting, fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge a bonus
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Minimal travel and occasional night and weekend work may be required
  • Works in a stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
  • May alternatively work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time while also spending a lot of hours walking and/or standing
  • Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
